Toronto Airport Taxi Service Tips: Taxi or No Taxi?

Toronto is one of those metropolitan cities that has good and reliable public transportation, however Toronto Pearson International Airport is not part of this system. The airport is about 35 km from the city center and is not close to any TTC station. This makes it difficult for anyone arriving at the airport to reach the city center or any part of the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). Tips on how to plan and book your airport and airport transportation are provided here. Making sure your trip is as smooth and easy as possible is key at the lowest possible cost. There are 3 possible ways to get out of Pearson International Airport to reach your destination:

1. Rent a car – Many car rental agencies are at the airport, so even if you haven’t booked, you can do so after you arrive at the airport. The journey to the center is quite taxi airport zaventem easy and the route is quite straightforward, but once you get to the center, it is a bit complicated and congested. Finding a street in the city center that allows you to drive in the direction you want to go is not that easy, so you may find yourself driving for a while. Taxi: Contrary to the belief that taxi is generally an expensive option, in Toronto you will be pleasantly surprised. Many taxi service companies may have flat rates from the airport or to the airport services. A trip from Toronto Pearson Airport to the city center will cost today (February 2010) CAD 40 or CAD 50 fixed (regular or limousine). Obviously this is the most convenient way to get to your destination in Toronto and it will take anywhere from 20 minutes (at night, with no traffic) to 1 hour or more during rush hour. 3. Airport Transportation: At Pearson International Airport, a shuttle service operates every 20-30 minutes and stops at 8 hotels in the city center. You may not have a reservation at one of these, but take the service and walk to your destination. However, check with the information booth if you decide to take the service. The price is 15.50 per person. Travel time is 1 to 1 1/2 hours, depending on the time you travel and the hotel you need to go to.
